Announcing Blog

Hello and welcome to my blog.  I’m excited about this new chapter in my life!  I’m a Middle-Grade to Young Adult writer, and my first series is The Finger Bones Series.  Volume One of the series is called Finger Bones.  Volume Two has been started.  I have not given it a name yet, but I will say written in the story is a cool ghost dog named Max.

Books have always been a part of my life.  I love to read and I enjoy writing.  I  want to use my blog as a platform to encourage students to read, and hopefully adults too.  My writing is family friendly, so I hope to encourage teachers, parents, and caregivers to join my blog.

I was an active Speech-Language Pathologist for 25 years.  I continue my studies and keep my degree active.  I am now retired, but I love children and I want to continue contributing and sharing my knowledge in the field.  Not all children learn in the same fashion.  My topics will include not only ways we can encourage the child to read, but helpful strategies for the child who is having difficulties reading.

In my posts, some of the topics I will discuss will be: What teachers, parents, and caregivers can look for in the language development of the child, early literacy skills, word recognition strategies, helpful strategies for the active learner, different learning styles, students with disabilities, building vocabulary, comprehending while reading, listening skills, learning in motion, and many more.

I want my blog to be an interactive blog.  I welcome ideas.  Please leave a comment and a request.
